Wanda the Witch liked tall hats and black cats, and cauldrons, and potions, and broomsticks, and bats. She liked to arrive nice and early at school and read to herself as she sat on her stool. The classroom was calm with no bustle or din . . . before the big rush when her class all came in. See, there was one thing Wanda worried about . . . . . . it was talking - she tried but no words would come out! It made her feel nervous, so shy and so small. No, Wanda just didn't like talking at all!

Lucy Rowland (Author) Lucy Rowland is a Children's Speech and Language Therapist and lives in the Gloucestershire countryside. With a real passion for language and lots of experience working with young children, Lucy was thrilled when she finally made the leap into picture book writing. When she's not daydreaming about story ideas, reading A. A. Milne or thinking up fun new rhymes, Lucy enjoys backpacking, baking and long walks on the beach. She is rather scared of spiders (and spider-related tricks!) but has now (bravely) done the highest bungee jump in the world! Paula Bowles (Illustrator) Paula grew up in Hertfordshire with a house full of animals. She has always loved drawing, reading and playing in her imagination, so she studied illustration at Falmouth College of Arts and became an illustrator. She now lives in Bristol, where she has worked as an illustrator for over 10 years. As well as drawing, Paula likes getting out of the city for long walks and cycle trips in the fresh air (she once cycled from Bristol to Paris!), snuggling indoors with a good book, discovering new music, and dancing the Lindy Hop. Oh, and she also once learned to walk the tightrope!
