Sofía Bemposta-Rivas holds a PhD in Englishphilology from the University of Vigo. Shecompleted a BA and an MA in advanced Englishstudies at the same institution, where sheis an active member of the research groupLanguage Variation and Textual Categorisation(LVTC). Her research focuses on Englishhistorical syntax, specifically on non-finitecomplementation, using corpora and empiricalmethodologies. Thanks to the financialsupport provided by the LVTC group, theEnglish Linguistic Circle (ELC) network and theSpanish Ministry of Science, Sofía developedresearch stays in Edinburgh, Leuven, York,Lancaster, British Columbia and Bamberg.
