These meditations on the mystery of time are selected from sermons preached at various points in the Church's year. Biblical perspectives on time are brought to bear on contemporary time-experience so as to find grounds for hope in a time that many find perplexing and disturbing. Although most were first delivered to congregations in university chapels, the language is simple and direct and draws on the author's long experience of pastoral ministry as much as on his work as a philosopher of religion. George Pattison is Professor of Divinity at Glasgow University. After many years in parish ministry he was Dean of chapel at King's College Cambridge (1991-2001), lecturer in practical theology (Aarhus 2002-3) and Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity and a canon of Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford (2004-13). He has published over 20 books.
