This book introduces one after another the Kaifeng Jewish community with a history of nearly a thousand years and only a few assimilated descendants—the hundreds of Jewish merchants from Baghdad who have settled in Hong Kong and Shanghai since the middle of the 19th century, and many from Tsarist Russia and the Soviet Union. Jewish immigrants and tens of thousands of Jewish refugees who came to Shanghai, the only place of refuge at the time, to escape the Holocaust in the 1930s and 1940s. It is not only a historical work, but also allows more Chinese and foreign readers to understand the history of interaction between the Jewish nation and the Chinese nation.
