Robert Schumann - Scherzo, Gigue, Romanze und Fughette op. 32

The Henle catalogue contains almost all of Schumann’s works for piano in top quality editions. With the publication of op. 32 we are filling an important gap. In or-der to help his “Neue Zeitschrift für Musik” to become more successful, Schumann gave it a practical use: he enclosed the music for short works. The Bach-like “Gigue” and “Fughetta” also appeared here. The “Scherzo” and “Romance” are on the other hand Romantic forms. It was only later that he put the pieces in their current sequence. The renowned Schumann pianist Leif Ove Andsnes kindly allowed us to use his fingerings in our edition. It is a compelling alternative to the frequently used albums in teaching. And a real discovery for pianists who want to play Schumann’s magnificent music. Le catalogue Henle présente pratiquement l’ensemble de l’œuvrepour piano de Schumann sous forme d’éditions de référence. La publication de l’op. 32 comble en l’occurrence une lacune importante. Pour garantir encore plus le succès de sa «Neue Zeitschrift für Musik», Schumann a voulu lui adjoindre une utilité pratique en ajoutant des suppléments musicaux consacrés à de courtes œuvres. Ainsi, il inclut encore dans cette collection la «Gigue» et la «Fuguette», inspirées de Bach. Par contre, le «Scherzo» etla «Romance» sont des formes ro-mantiques. C’est seulement plustard qu’il classe les pièces en question dans l’ordre repris dans la présente édition. Leif Ove Andsnes, pianiste schumannien de renom, a noté le doigté de notre édition. Une alternative attrayante aux albums fréquemment joués dans les cours de piano, mais aussi une découverte pour les pianistes désireux de jouer un Schumann à l’inspiration grandiose. Um seiner „Neuen Zeitschrift für Musik“ zu mehr Erfolg zu verhelfen, versah Schumann sie mit praktischem Nutzen: Er fügte Notenbeilagen mit kurzen Werken bei. In dieser Reihe erschienen auch die an Bach orientierten „Gigue“ und „Fughette“. „Scherzo“ und „Romanze“ dagegen sind romantische Formen. Erst später stellte er die Stücke in vorliegender Folge zusammen. Der bekannte Schumann-Pianist Leif Ove Andsnes gab für unsere Ausgabe seine Fingersätze preis. Eine reizvolle Alternative zu den viel gespielten Alben im Klavierunterricht. Und eine Entdeckung für Pianisten, die grandios komponierenden Schumann musizieren wollen.
