Das Repertorium der griechischen und lateinischen Inschriften aus Mysien wird mit dem vorliegenden dritten Teil abgeschlossen. Kapitel 1 gibt einen Überblick zur Geschichte und Topographie von Kyzikos. Heute stehen von der Stadt, die es laut Strabon (12.8.11) "an Größe, Schönheit und guter Organisation für Frieden und Krieg mit den ersten Städten Asiens aufnehmen kann", nur noch die Pfeiler des Amphitheaters; vieles wurde zum Bau der Paläste nach Konstantinopel verschleppt. Die Inschriften sind daher umso wertvoller, um uns ein Bild von den verschiedenen Heiligtümern, den Marktplätzen und Verwaltungsgebäuden sowie von der Organisation der Polis machen zu können. Darüber hinaus werden, auch auf der Grundlage der literarischen Quellen, die strittigen Fragen zur Lage der Stadt (Insel oder Halbinsel?) und den drei Häfen von Kyzikos sowie zum Bau der Brücken und Kanäle erörtert, die 73 v. Chr. bei der Belagerung durch Mithradates unbrauchbar gemacht und hundert Jahre später durch Antonia Tryphaina repariert wurden. Die literarischen Quellen sind mit Kontext und Übersetzung gesammelt, und eine Planskizze zeigt den jetzigen Bestand der antiken Reste. Kapitel 2 enthält neue Inschriften (Addenda), Kapitel 3 Konkordanzen (Publikationen, Quellen, Fundorte und antike Orte), Kapitel 4 Indices (Topographie, Agone, Kalender, Mythos und Religion, Personen und Fakten der Geschichte, Verzeichnis aller Personennamen, Sachregister, griechische und lateinische Wörter). This is the third and last volume of the “Repertorium” of the Greek and Latin inscriptions from Mysia. Chapter 1 provides an overview of the history and topography of Kyzikos. Today, only the pillars of the amphitheatre remain of the city, which according to Strabo (12.8.11) “can compete with the first cities of Asia in size, beauty and good organization for peace and war”; much of it was carried off to Constantinople for the construction of the palaces. In addition, on the basis of literary sources, the controversially discussed questions concerning the location of the city (island or peninsula?), the three harbours of Kyzikos, and the construction of the bridges and canals, made unusable during the siege by Mithridates in 73 BC and repaired 100 years later by Antonia Tryphaina, are discussed. The literary sources are collected with context and translation, and a sketch plan shows the current state of the ancient remains.
