The author proposes a theory of legal translation the aim of which is to formulate postulates and dimensions used to characterize legal texts and their component parts for the purpose of establishing relevant meanings and choosing proper translative equivalents for a selected legal communicative community of translation recipients.

Aleksandra Matulewska graduated from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland, Faculty of Modern Languages and Literature, Institute of Linguistics (MA in linguistics and information science, PhD in general linguistics). She is a translator, an adiunkt (assistant professor), a member of the Association of Polish Translators and Interpreters (STP) and the Polish Society of Sworn and Specialized Translators TEPIS.
