Intelligent Cities

The global trend of urbanisation continues unabated. According to the United Nations, half of the population in of world dwells in cities today; the fi gure will rise to more than two-third by 2030. The structures of cities and metro regions will become increasingly larger and more complex. This growth also spurs an increase in the challenges and an increase in the necessity to find new ways. A major percentage of the environmental pollution on a global scale is caused in cities, and cities thus also are a central determining factor as far as the reduction of emissions of noxious substances, sustainable use of resources, intelligent economic structures and many other factors are concerned. Together with co-initiator Accenture and the industrial partners ECE, Hewlett-Packard, Panasonic and the NATURpur Institute (HSE), B.A.U.M. provides decision makers in cities and municipalities orientation and assistance for their introduction into intelligent urban development. Among other things, the report provides practice-oriented solution methods to move towards an intelligent city.
