IMPORTANT ARTISTS: The project features art from international artists Mark Tobey, John Cage, Yoko Ono, Robert Filliou, Allan Kaprow, Pauline Oliveros, Marina Abramovic. It includes Canadian artists Nobuo Kubota, Jack Wise, Kalsang Dawa, Tomoyo Ihaya, Dylan Thomas, Chrysanne Stathacos. COOPERATIVE APPROACH: This project sought to engage contemporary artists themselves in development of the exhibition and research project. The purpose was to see how Buddhist principles were influencing artists in their production right now -- to see what is happening in the present moment in the world of art. But in parallel to that, the book examines the broader post-war history of Buddhist Art and its international practice. BEAUTIFUL OBJECT: Designed in-house by Figure 1's Creative Director, this will be a stunning art book that will reflect the subject matter with sensitivity and creativity.
