N storage and cycling is a vital process important for growth, adaptation and productivity of forest trees. The storage and remobilisation ability of N by plant is particularly important to meet the N demand of forest trees for continuous growth (Staswick 1994). The knowledge of PNUE among poplar species on different site conditions will be advantageous in selecting the appropriate traits for a specific site condition.
