Joongwook Park studied law at Dongguk University in Seoul from 1996 to 2001 and obtained a bachelor's degree. There he completed his LL.M. in criminal law in 2004. He served as an officer in the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) from spring 2004 to summer 2007, and then as a research assistant at the Law Research Institute of Seoul National University (SNU) for two years until the end of 2009. The doctorate was awarded in 2022 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Schünemann at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. Since 2022 he has been working as a lecturer at Wonkwang University in Iksan.
