Askar Dzhumashev ist Abteilungsleiter der Karakalpakischen Filiale der Uzbekischen AdW (Abteilung Geschichte). Von Juli 2009 bis Juni 2010 war er als Stipendiat der Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung am Zentralasien-Seminar der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Forschungsschwerpunkt ist die Geschichte der Sowjetunion am Beispiel Karakalpakstans. Olaf Günther ist Mitarbeiter und Habilitant am Institut für Ethnologie der Universität Leipzig. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Mobilität und Ethnologie mobiler Gruppen in Zentral- und Südasien. Thomas Loy ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Zentralasien-Seminar der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Oral History in Zentralasien, Bucharische Juden sowie Migration und Geschichte Zentralasiens im 20. und 21. Jahrhundert.
