Birgitta S. Messmer ist 1961 in Stuttgart geboren. In 1977 ist sie in die USA ausgewandert und hat dort später auf der Oklahoma State University Krankenpflege studiert. Pflege wurde ihre Leidenschaft, die sie nun seit mehr als drei Jahrzehnten als examierte Krankenschwester praktiziert. Sie hat vier Töchter und derzeit vier Enkelsöhne und eine Enkeltochter. Nach 35 Jahren in den USA ist Birgitta wieder in ihre Heimatstadt in Deutschland zurückgekehrt und arbeitet dort weiter als Krankenpflegerin in der Anästhesie. Schon seit ihrem ersten Jahr auf der Universität entwickelte sie eine Liebe für Literatur. Ihr erstes Gedicht "Hand in Hand" erschien 1985 in der Ausgabe von "Redbud Classic", einer jährlichen Veröffentlichung der Oklahoma State University. Dieses und auch ihr zweites Gedicht "Silent Screems" werden in ihrem Buch wiedergegeben. AMIGIRL ist ihr Debüt-Roman und wurde von den wahren Erlebnissen ihres Lebens inspiriert.
